How our data works

Where does the live Bitcoin price come from?

Kapowo's server reads public Bitcoin prices from the market every second and keeps its own live price. That is the “BTC now” you see.

What is a window?

Windows follow the clock. A 15-minute window runs from :00, :15, :30 or :45 for 15 minutes. You can also pick 5 minutes, 1 hour or 4 hours.

What do the results pages record?

For every 15-minute window, our live price at the open and at the close, and whether it closed up or down. A window is only recorded when our server was running at both its open and its close, so no window is ever guessed or filled in.

Why can these differ from an exchange's result?

Each exchange settles with its own reference price and rules. On very close windows that can differ from ours by a few dollars. Always check the official result on your exchange.

Where does the strike come from?

You type it in. Kapowo does not read, copy or store data from any prediction-market exchange.

What is the verdict?

For 15-minute windows you choose to watch, StrikeCall estimates whether Bitcoin will close above or below your strike, from the live window. Everyone sees the same verdict for the same strike. It is an estimate, not a promise, and not financial advice.
